Plugin still works for the most part but if you have the minimum video length feature enabled it seems to stop it from working.

This only seems to happen in Kodi v18.

It doesnt seem like this add-on is being supported anymore but one can hope?!

I'm pretty sure this plugin is dead as @mpolednik was reworking / refactoring the code but things didn't go anywhere for almost a year and half.
Hue sync client is a good alternative if you have a HTPC / windows running kodi, sucks for ARM devices / pies / linux & mac users tho.
RIP ambilight plugin

I’ve heard about Hue Sync but haven’t really researched it yet but my understanding is that it’s more of an ambilight setup and not so much for theater mode? Any idea if it can simply dim the lights based on playback events? Personally for movies, I find ambilight setups distracting.

Hope some one picks up the work and support kodi 18 as it don´t work for me at all in kodi 18

Got this installed with Leia 18.2 on a Sony Smart TV, and it’s mostly working. Only issue I had was I had to disable mediacodec (surface) acceleration, and a couple of times on pause, the lights do not un-dim. I’m running with a Aeon MQ 8 skin on a Sony KD-55x8509c

What's really annoying is that the clone of kodi, mrmc , has a fully and really nice working "service" (they removed the addon support and write their "services" into the core, i believe it's to avoid some kind of iptv or popcorn time 's addon) that manage the hue as an ambilight system ..
