Out of curiosity, i am trying to reproduce this using putty but having shell error when inserting into .bmp

does it only works with meterpreter payload?

Should work with pretty much every shellcode as long as it's 32 bits shellcode

You can't use an EXE directly you need to use shellcode payload. Please refer to https://github.com/Mr-Un1k0d3r/DKMC/blob/master/DKMC%20presentation%202017.pdf for more explanation on how the tool work internally.
