atom-latextools package abandoned?

The last commit was in October 2016 - @msiniscalchi and @ig0774 haven't been active on GitHub in quite a while now... is this project abandoned?

I recently started talking with @thomasjo and @ashthespy in ashthespy/Atom-LaTeX#166 about the variety of LaTeX packages for Atom. I think we all would benefit from a unification process, or at least from some clear recommendations or feature lists that help new users select the right package for their needs.

If anyone wants to join the conversation and move the Atom-using LaTeX community forward, raise your voice! Since everybody has their own distinct workflow and needs, I think it is important to get as much feedback as possible to improve the general LaTeX integration with Atom!
