Summary

Would like to add more native configurability in how MUI can render the html tag, in order to override the native browser support. Would be good to enable at minimum choice of color highlight background, and adding a bit of rounded corners to the highlight effect. Some considerations may apply to color-contrast and dark/light theme transitions.

Motivation

We can certainly use CSS to override native browser behavior on but would be nice to have native MUI support, which would address accessibility, color-contrast, dark/light theme automatically.
