Hi, I tried to install gnu-smalltalk with homebrew and get following error.

configure.ac:22: error: 'AM_CONFIG_HEADER': this macro is obsolete.
You should use the 'AC_CONFIG_HEADERS' macro instead.
/usr/local/Cellar/automake/1.13.1/share/aclocal-1.13/obsolete-err.m4:14: AM_CONFIG_HEADER is expanded from...
configure.ac:22: the top level

the whole error log https://gist.github.com/4528047

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks.

We can patch this (and have for other formulae) but could you also report it to the gnu-smalltalk project? The issue is that it is using macros that no longer exist in automake 1.13.

Thanks for the info, I've reported to the gnu-smalltalk project.

That means currently I can build with previous version of automake then, or should I wait for the patch?

I'll patch GNU Smalltalk upstream, but can you guys please ask the automake maintainer to revert the change?

It brings absolutely no benefit for Automake, and is a big hassle for everyone else.

Looks like this was fixed upstream last spring? Anyway, we're not going to be the go-between trying to get automake to revert this.
