Also, why that is and what to do about it. 'Why can't I write to someone else's MP?' is a fairly frequent question in user support but I think it might be the first time a user has suggested we actually make the reasoning easier to find.

Our official advice, as found in the FAQs, is that you should write to your own MP and ask them to pass it on to the relevant members; and that they are required to do this even if they don't agree with your point.

This is slightly weakened by Parliament's own publication of email addresses for MPs and ministers, ministries, the PM etc.

But in any case, we could potentially think of ways to make it clearer why we don't allow people to email reps other than their own, a bit more upfront than requiring the user to go and seek it out in the FAQs.

In a follow-up email this user also suggested that we make it possible to email your MP while copying in your desired recipient.
