Actual behaviour

When choosing the type of genre I want to display. Supposedly, that ability can be done, every type of genre that I choose can be displayed.

Expected behavior

Only the type of "Rock" music genre can be displayed and loaded correctly. And for other types of genres not displayed or loaded.

Step to reproduce

  • Install the application, open and run it.

  • Select the type of music genre you want to display.

  • Select the music genre "Rock". Only the type of "Rock" music genre can be displayed or loaded.

  • Then you will find problems like I have experienced.

Information

  • App version:
  • Android version: 8.0
  • Device: Asus zenfone 3

Odd. Symphony gets the genre and track information from the Android media manager. What you are showing in your YouTube clip is that the media manager is returning genres that contain no tracks that the media manager thinks are playable.

Can tracks in those "empty" genres be seen and/or played in the stock music app?

I also feel weird. I hope, this problem can be solved.

Even though I have various genres of music on storage. But only the "Rock" genre is loaded.

And I see my music genre is seen in other applications.

I've borrowed a Asus phone running Android 8.1 on it and installed Symphony v1.1.14 on it. I am not able to duplicate your issue.

At this point, I will need some information:

  • Is your music on internal storage or on a microSD card?
  • What are the file types for the tracks that Symphony is not seeing?
  • Are they different than those that you do see?
  • Are you able to get me a logcat? If so, I can give you a debug version of Symphony with some logging that might help figure out what is happening.

Music is on internal storage, all music uses the mp3 format. For now, I can't find the paint log, because my computer is damaged.

Have you tried it on Zenfone 3, Android runs on 8.0.?
Maybe the problem will be seen soon.
No tracks found, even though I have chosen all the features available in it. And when I chose to open the "Rock" feature in the Genre section, only the "Rock" music genre was seen.

I do not have access to a Zenfone 3 running any version of Android. At present I only have access to phones with LineageOS 7.1 and a phone running Android Go 8.1.

If you don't have access to a computer to pull a logcat from your phone and you don't have another music app that uses the media manager to see if it acts the same, then the only thing I can suggest that you reset the media manager's storage and rebuild it. On a 7.1 phone it can be done by:

  • Go to Settings->Apps
  • Under the ... menu, select "Show System"
  • Select the "Media Storage" app
  • Tap on the "Storage" item
  • Tap on "Clear Data"
  • Reboot phone to force a scan for you media.

I the issue is that you media manager's database is corrupted that should fix it. If the problem is elsewhere then it shouldn't hurt anything.

I have done it, but the same problem still occurs. I'm really confused. I can do it on other music applications, all genres of music are visible.

I tried using this application on an Android device Nubia n2 lite version of Android 8.1.0 also encountered a problem, only the Rock music genre was seen. I can't choose to use other genres.

I will need a logcat to proceed further on this.
