check how it works with high contrast dark theme. If that behavior would be suitable, I could make something that fakes high contrast setting (without the theme) on a per-app basis, but otherwise per-app theming is not possible, see FAQ

i went ahead and tested high contrast on a VM, and it looks black
sorry but there is nothing i can do about this.
