Hello,

I am trying to understand how to compare (or merge) the datasets of kits19 and kits21. The description of the classes in the kits21 webpage (https://kits21.kits-challenge.org/) says that the kidney class should be equivalent for both, however I thought, reading the kits19 data description paper (https://arxiv.org/pdf/1904.00445.pdf, page 4, bullet point 2), that cysts were included in the kidney class for kits19, in which case it would be equivalent to kidney + cysts in kits21?

Thanks!

That's an excellent point! It would be more accurate for us to say that the kidney+masses HEC from KiTS21 was defined in the same was as the kidney+tumor HEC from 2019. The kidney labels individually, however, are not expected to be the same due to the cysts.

The dataset of kit-19 and kit-21 - what are the main differences? are there any overlaps/duplicate samples between these two?

Identical case numbers (e.g., case_00123) refer to the same patient in both KiTS19 and KiTS21, however the labels were entirely redone for KiTS21.
