The Formatter/AbstractFormatter.php use the required field attribute. For hidden fields this is false (HTML5 hidden fields don't have and required attr). So it would be better to also check the validation rules.

version 3 is a complete rewrite. please check if this is still a problem with version 3 and a recent symfony version.
