I'm having a similar problem on Fedora 35, with GNOME. Funny enough it worked fine at first, but I tried --cli and --fullscreen and now when I start the program, whole screen goes black. I can mouse to the top left and everything goes back to normal, but every app is a black screen until I close tic80. I tried downloading tic80 again, same problem. Are any config files left around anywhere?

I have the same happening to me, but with another weird effect -- now every time I run tic80, even without cmdline arguments, it always seems to run fullscreen with a black screen. Doing an apt purge tic80 and then re-installing has no effect.

@cafuneandchill
The reason of the black screen is still unknown, you can exit fullscreen by pressing F11

@nesbox Tried F11, no effect

Edit: nevermind that, Alt+Enter worked; you just have to actually make the window active using Alt-Tab

Had the same issue on elementary OS 6.1 when installing from the latest .deb file. Tried building from source to see if I could isolate and fix the bug, but building from source seems to have fixed it.
Can anyone else try to replicate this behavior?
Broken .deb version: version 1.0.2164 (b09c50c)
Working build I just compiled from main: version 1.0.2246-dev (d23ffe1)

Same here, on Debian Testing (will be 12/Bookwork) running KDE. Packaged binary unresponsive on fullscreen, build from source works fine (checking out the v1.0.2164 tag). Probably an incompatible version of a library on the build system.

What is unusual is when it stopped responding in fullscreen is that it drew over every one of my KDE desktops and no longer showed up in the alt + tab list. I needed to switch to a TTY and use killall.
