Opening this ticket to deal with web search indexing matters for ReadTheDocs documentation (searching online today usually points to yale.edu, i.e.: https://www.google.com/search?q=neuron+topology).

  • Shall we edit the neuronsimulator/nrn GH page and point to RTD instead of Yale website? (dependency on NEURON documentation plan #1728 or good to go already?)
  • Consider adding robots.txt to prevent indexing:
    • neuron.yale.edu website
    • ReadTheDocs website for older versions (just keep latest and last official version). Robots.txt already created by RTD and weight is based on latest versions. No need to add something custom.
    • github.io -> robots.txt deployed via https://github.com/neuronsimulator/neuronsimulator.github.io
  • Edit nrn project on RTD and add relevant keywords and description. Unfortunately neuron.readthedocs.io was already taken by someone else, otherwise it would have facilitated better indexing.
  • Default version on RTD: last official version
