⚠️ Before posting ⚠️

  • This is a bug, not a question or an enhancement.
  • I've searched for similar issues and didn't find a duplicate.
  • I've written a clear and descriptive title for this issue, not just "Bug" or "Crash".
  • I agree to follow Nextcloud's Code of Conduct.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Open search bar
  2. Search for a file
  3. Tap on one of the loaded results (while search is still ongoing).

Expected behaviour

When tapping on a result the app should present the user with options on what to do with it (eg. Download).

Actual behaviour

The app does not open any interaction prompts. The search also never completes, even when displaying what I believe are all files fitting the search kriteria.
This makes the search feature kind of useless as I'm never able to do anything with the results.

This is explicitly disabled (developer ref), although I see no important reason for it.

The search also never completes, even when displaying what I believe are all files fitting the search kriteria.

This may be because the server is searching on other search providers still (contacts, deck, Talk, etc). Can you get some logs from the phone so I can verify this? Instructions here: https://github.com/nextcloud/android/blob/master/README.md#getting-debug-info-via-logcat-mag
Feel free to search and replace the server URL, username and other file names in the output.

For me search takes also quite long, which seems to be related to the number of shares (reported here nextcloud/server#35776). Seeing the first results in android but not beeing able to open files is really annoying.

I'm using external storage app which adds about 50GB of external files to the cloud, so that seems like the main cause.

As to why we cant interact with search results, this should really be changed as if effectively makes search unusable for anyone like me having hundrets of GB stored in their Nextcloud instance.
