Mail App at Dashboard - but it's deactivated #3827

Expected behavior

There shouldn't be the mail-widget in the dashboard for those, for which mail-app isn't activated.

Actual behavior

Not only is the mail widget choosable by the user, it's also activated by default. And it's endlessly loading, since there isn't any mail, nor an account or access to the app.

Mail app

Mail app version: 1.5.0
NC 20

Sorry, im a bit confused what is happening here. If you dont have an email account set up, the dashboard should show you this:
dashboardempty
If you dont want that mail bashboard to be shown, then click customize and remove the click from that widget.

is the app disabled in general or just for certain users?

The app is limited for group A with the users AA, AB and AC, so this group has access.

User B, for whom the app isn't limited access the dashboard.

This is what he gets.

Even in this different usecase, when the app is limited to this user, but there isn't any mail inbox configured - I wouldn't agree, that this is a good default.

Instead there should a way to configure default widgets, like proposed in #22609.

The problem is unfortunately very confusing for users without the permission to use the mail app. Consequence -> Frequent requests to the administrators.

This is a bug in https://github.com/nextcloud/server. Dashboard widgets are always loaded for all users, even those where an app is disabled.

As a remedy this app can only disable the feature of getting enabled for some groups only. There is no way to fix this here.

Is there a suitable ticket for this problem at Nextcloud Server? And is there any progress on this?
