⚠️ This issue respects the following points: ⚠️

  • This is a bug, not a question or a configuration/webserver/proxy issue.
  • This issue is not already reported on Github (I've searched it).
  • Nextcloud Server is up to date. See Maintenance and Release Schedule for supported versions.
  • Nextcloud Server is running on 64bit capable CPU, PHP and OS.
  • I agree to follow Nextcloud's Code of Conduct.

Bug description

After upgrading to nc 26.0.0 no e-mails are sent. I already red #37329 this bug report and therefore installed the suggested patch 37340 - unfortunetly with no success. We are absolutely sure, that the credentials and sever-data are correct. This data works within WordPress on the same host.

I was not able to replicate this on Nextcloud 26 running on NGINX and PHP 8.2.x. Are there any additional errors that you can report. Or does that SMTP server work outside of Nextcloud?

Have you tried the other options at #37329 (SSL options, see all comments)?

I corrected the syntax errors - and now it works. Thank you!

For everyone else having to work around this bug, here is a corrected syntax:

  'mail_smtpstreamoptions' =>
  array (
    'ssl' =>
    array (
      'allow_self_signed' => true,
      'verify_peer' => false,
      'verify_peer_name' => false,
    ),
  ),

I've been struggling with this problem for almost a week now! Thank you so much for the tip, it worked for me.
But I must add that the config.sample lacks explanation on how to use the mail_smtpstreamoptions option; maybe some examples would help?
But that's it; thanks again. 👍

I just wanted to thank @4001982248998 for the solution provided here. I was getting the following error from my local mail relay, which was successfully resolved by adding the above block to config/config.php. No changes on the mail relay needed.

Hey folks!

I am running the latest version of the all in one docker image, I updated the config.php file in the container according to the instructions but I am still not able to get past the error. Funny thing is I was able to add the same email account in the email tab, but im not able to get to the settings page to use the same settings to work.

Any help here will be appreciated, thank you!

@LeftoversTodayAppAdmin Please post your query on the Help Forum - https://help.nextcloud.com since this isn't a general support channel. Someone there should be able to help you out if you post your config there.

Many months later and still fixing the issue for people. Thanks 4001982248998 :D
