Nicotine+ version: 3.3.2
Operating System/Distribution: Fedora 39 (kernel 6.7.10-200.fc39.x86_64)

Describe the bug

Nicotine+ 3.3.2 cannot bind to port 2234 on Fedora 39.

Error logged is:
'Cannot listen on port 2234. Ensure no other application uses it, or choose a different port. Error: [Errno 13] Permission denied'

Package: nicotine+-3.3.2-1.fc39.noarch

Downgrading to nicotine+-3.2.9-3.fc39.noarch resolves the issue.

Expected behavior

Nicotine+ binds to port successfully

Steps to reproduce the bug

Start Nicotine+ 3.3.2

Additional context

Screenshots, logs, stacktraces or relevant information.

Log
org.nicotine_plus.Nicotine.desktop[14789]: [2024-04-06 15:27:38] Cannot listen on port 2234. Ensure no other application uses it, or choose a different port. Error: [Errno 13] Permission denied

SELinux in permissive mode.

Command 'netstat -tulpn' shows nothing listening on port 2234

Configured Nicotine+ to listen on port 22234, restarted and issue persists.

It might be fixed by #2925 ? Try 3.3.3.rc2 at link:

@larwood Have you been able to test 3.3.3rc2?

I have not sorry. I will try and find some time tomorrow.

Is there an unstable repository for Fedora 39? If not I guess I could try the flatpak or pull the git branch and run it from there.

There's no unstable Fedora repository, but running from git is quite easy.

I checked out the repo and 3.3.3rc2 connected successfully to port 2234.

I then checked out a new local branch to 'tags/3.3.2' and confirmed it cannot listen on port 2234.

I conclude that the issue is resolved in 3.3.3rc2.
