I did a quick search on the internet[1][2], it might be because of your Windows version, which is pretty outdated by now.

I can't say for sure, though, and I don't have a (working) Windows 8.1 system lying around right at the moment.

From the linked wiki page:

Mainstream support for Windows 8.1 ended on January 9, 2018, and extended support ended on January 10, 2023. Mainstream support for the Embedded Industry edition of Windows 8.1 ended on July 10, 2018, and extended support ended on July 11, 2023.

thanks, could be, but I thought this is more Qt6 related. If you are the Aivar from Thonny IDE I like to thank you for the programm. It is really helpful.
Kind regards
Rolf

It's Qt related as in: it looks like Qt tries to call this, but it's not present on your system. One of the links above says it was introduced in a version of Windows 10. Why exactly it tries to call that is not clear; my guess is that this version of Qt6 assumes it can be used because they don't test for outdated versions of Windows. That's just my guess, though, I can't verify this here.

Sorry, I am not Aivar nor do I know who that is. I don't even know Thonny IDE. 😅

The minimum version of Windows supported by GPT4All is Windows 10.
