Due to #136 we are going to be renaming brigade to something else. If you have a proposal for an original name let us know by dropping a comment or contacting me privately if you prefer. If you like any of the proposals feel free to indicate so by adding a reaction.

By the way, name doesn't have to be a real word or even in english. Feel free to do something fancy like combining different words, coming up with a new one or even playing with languages other than english.

In keeping with the NAPALM references:

  • Sundance
  • Crossfire
  • Brushfire (multi-threaded/quick)
  • Wildfire
  • Firestorm
  • Spitfire

In keeping with the Python references:

  • Hydra - multi-headed python :0
  • pyrestorm

NAPLAM + Hydra = Firehydrant

I was going to say firedrill, but there are numerous projects on github with that name. Same with silex.

I looked at these for major collisions on Github and in the general technology world, and nothing jumped out at me.

For another variant of Brigade:

  • Eskadra: Croatian for Squadron/Bridgade.
  • Brigata: Italian for Brigade.

For more general python/automation/framework naming:

  • Oprawa: Polish for Frame/Binding.
  • Edifice: English, meaning "a building, especially a large, imposing one. Also, a complex system of beliefs."
  • Armature: English, meaning "a metal framework on which a sculpture is molded with clay or similar material."
  • Fundo/Fundare: Latin for the act of laying the bottom, or laying a foundation.
