Currently the secondary view in Notepad++ always 'exists', but it's only visible to users sometimes. That means even when the secondary view is not shown, things like NPPM_GETNBOPENFILES with lParam SECOND_VIEW interpret it the same as if it was visible to the user with 1 tab open.

As it stands, there doesn't seem to be any way to determine whether the secondary view is hidden vs visible with 1 tab open.

Just in case you need a wrokaround, PythonScript solved that this way.
