[BUG] npm 7.7.0 lost progress bar on npm install

Current Behavior:

npm 7.7.0 does not display a progress bar during npm install.

Expected Behavior:

I'm not sure whether this is intentional, but it's not mentioned in the release notes, so I wanted to check.

Steps To Reproduce:

1. In an empty directory, install some packages with many nested dependencies (e.g., npm install webpack webpack-cli).
2. npm 7.6.3 displays a progress bar during the install.
3. npm 7.7.0 does not display a progress bar.

Environment:

• OS: macOS 10.15.7
• Node: 14.16.0
• npm: 7.6.3/7.7.0

I can confirm this issue. Here happens with every package, also with those without dependencies.

$ node --version
v12.21.0
$ npm --version
7.7.0
$ uname -srv
Linux 5.4.0-67-generic #75~18.04.1-Ubuntu SMP Tue Feb 23 19:17:50 UTC 2021

Can confirm it's fixed.
