progress information during publish for large packages would be reassuring #6420

Publications for large packages can take a while, especially if you have a slow upstream connection. It would be great to see progress information, perhaps in the form of an upload progress bar, letting you know that it's still working and hasn't mysteriously wedged.

@iarna we discussed briefly that this might be a good pilot for progress bars on install in multi-stage install, so maybe it makes sense for you to pick this up, but I leave that judgment to you.

I agree, when I get to progress bars (which in my mind are part of the polishing phase, after I have the Brave New npm install actually installing things.

My plan is to integrate progress bars into npmlog. They kind of need to be anyway to allow log message output to not mangle progress bar output.

This is going to be implemented in #6911. As such, I'm going to close this ticket so that future discussion can happen around the actual implementation.
