No Keyboard: Can't type into application

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.Install  on Ubuntu 9.04
2.Run it
3.Run a text application, like compose email
4. Attempt to write using PC keyboard.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I expect to see the keyboard of my PC enter text in the Android text app.
Where there is a text input window, I should see letters appear as I type.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

Ubuntu 9.04
