Texting on tablet not working properly

I'm currently on a Galaxy A7 Tab Light running Android 14

I tested this on other apps first just to be sure it wasn't me, haven't had this same issue and this only just started happening recently. When I'm typing, either with the virtual keyboard or writing with a stylus, the cursor ends before the last letter unless there is a visible character already in front of it. And this only happens after a formatting character (e.g. "-" for lists or "#" for headers). I tested this with and without community plugins (of which I only have 3 anyway). All my core plugins are default. Not sure how to test this further.
