Title:
VB Index BIDS support / Pretty GUI

Project lead:
claudebajada

Timezone:
+2

Hub:
Europe, Middle East and Africa

Description:
I have been collaborating / leading a project that produced some software to 1) create "cortical gradients" and a simple edge detection technique called the VB Index (see preprint http://psyarxiv.com/7vzbk/) We have a python and matlab tool but are focussing on the python version (https://github.com/VBIndex/py_vb_toolbox). The brainhack project will be simple, allow the toolbox to accept BIDS data and / or create a simple (but pretty) GUI. I have some crazy tangential ideas if anyone is interested to hear too :) - here is our full wish list

Project submission

Submission checklist

*Once the issue is submitted, please check items in this list.

  • Link to your project: could be a code repository, a shared document, etc. See here
  • Goals for the OHBM Brainhack: describe what you want to achieve during this brainhack. See here.
  • Flesh out at least 2 "good first issues": those are tasks that do not require any prior knowledge about your project, could be defined as issues in a GitHub repository, or in a shared document, cf here.
  • Skills: list skills that would be particularly suitable for your project. We ask you to include at least one non-coding skill, cf. here.
  • Chat channel: A link to a chat channel that will be used during the OHBM Brainhack. This can be an existing channel or a new one. We recommend using the Brainhack space on mattermost, cf. here.
  • Video channel: A link to a video channel that will be used during the OHBM Brainhack. This can be an existing channel or a new one. For instance a jitsi meet room, cf. here.

Optionally, you can also include information about:

  • Number of participants, cf. here
  • Twitter-size summary of your project pitch, cf. here
  • Provide an image of your project for the OHBM brainhack website
  • Project snippet for the OHBM Brainhack website, cf. here

We would like to think about how you will credit and onboard new members to your project. We recommend reading references from this section. If you'd like to share your thoughts with future project participants, you can include information about:

  • Specify how will you acknowledge contributions (e.g. listing members on a contributing page).
  • Provide links to onboarding documents if you have some.

hey @claudebajada

I have cleaned up the submission a bit as we were updating our submission template to make easier to user and read. Double check that I have not messed up anything.

2 things you could already add:

  • what skills you would prefer people to have to join for your project
  • set up a chat channel and the link (it could be on mattermost or somewhere else)

I added the python and BIDS label to your project. Make sure you are fine with this and check if there are any other labels that fit your project.

Hey @claudebajada
We are also "advertising" the projects on our website.

Let us know if there is an image you would like us to use for yours. :-)

OMG. 😆

No wonder you did not. This message made no sense. Let me try that again.

I will be the one taking care of your project for the @ohbm/hack2020-social_media team. So I will be the person behind the tweets from the OHBM OSSIG twitter account.

@claudebajada do you have a video channel for your project? Would you add that information to the mattermost channel, please? Thanks.

Hi @jhlegarreta yes we are on Jitsi meet. The channel was removed from here to minimise chances of random spam callers. You can join our mattermost channel and I'll post the video link there.

Awesome. Thanks. If you pin that post to the channel, folks will be able to find it more easily !
