I'm having a problem with no sound on my Windows 7. The strange thing is my previous Windows 7 laptop, an ASUS worked just fine, but my Lenovo can't play any sounds.

I've tried several different backends and compatibility modes, but no good. Custom won't play imported songs or music either.

My sound card is Realtek HD. I haven't had any other programs that gave me trouble with sound.

Okay, I finally figured out what the problem was.

It seems to have to do with my user profile. The thing with my user profile is that it's written in Korean. The directory path to it is also written in Korean.

I actually considered this might be the problem so I had tried moving my folder back out to just C:, but the sound didn't play. On a hunch, I tried making a user profile that was also in English and at that point and had the folder out in C:, the sound played.

So I guess the bug should be... the OHR doesn't play sound when usernames/folders have non English directory paths?

Need to make a correction - it seems to only be the User folder. I changed my Windows User folder back to English and tried the OHR in the Korean folder - lo and behold, it still works!

It seems really bizarre, but not overly? All my AGS games would also shut down or consequently be unable to locate save files, but now that it's in English, it's all working again...

OK; thanks for hunting down this bug.

By "Korean folder" I assume you mean the folder containing the .rpg. It's to be expected that that would be irrelevant, since if there was a problem then the game wouldn't run at all, rather than just the audio. (The audio files are first extracted to a temporary directory inside your temp folder.)

The Windows User folder being in Korean resulted in sound not playing. The path was (Korean name)\Game Creation (in Korean)\OHRRPGCE. Changing just the User folder to English made audio work again. However, previewing sound does not work if the directory path leading to the music has a non English name.
