vanishing Greek text in preview

I have uploaded a CSV file into CKAN (2.1) which has a field containing a Greek name. When I preview it, that column is completely empty. Everything else working fine. I am at a loss to know what happened.

Yes, there's some encoding problem. Opening the file in LibreOffice also shows the column as gibberish by default, but if you tell it it's UTF8 it comes out fine. CKAN should probably get this right ...

I have another file with Russian in which I am fairly comes out OK, so I am puzzled. If it was gibberish, I'd understand, but its the fact that there is nothing there which is odd.
