Summary

The current design uses icon and text with a rectangle border around as selectable option. This option can be clicked within the border. Problems:

That is an unknown interaction element to the customer. It can be guessed by the context, of course.
If only one payment option is available, this is not selected by default.

Here is the current look with one payment option:

I would recommend to change this and stick to simple and standard radio selection elements, since this is well known.

Drawbacks

Mobile users might need to zoom in, however, there is normal radio selection and standard checkboxes in the flow anyways.

thank you for creating an issue.
Yes, you are right there should be radio indicator displayed.
As I said in issue #234 we are working on new UI/UX and we will take this into account.
