I noticed that not all the columns in data.csv are exposed/utilized.

Can you explain what column 5,6,7 are?

  • 5 looks like the code but some have asterisk
  • 6 looks like a numerical unique identifier
  • 7 looks like some form of grouping to a subtype but trying to understand purpose.

Do you mind disclosing where this csv originally came from?

I'm sorry it took such a long time to get back to you nw.

  • Field 5 is the subdivision code with * (don't ask me why)
  • Field 6 is the CDH (Common Data Hub) id for the subdivision
  • Field 7 is the CDH id for the country

The data originally came from www.commondatahub.com which is now sadly defunct. I've been thinking about updating the data but I'm afraid this might break peoples applications so I've been holding off on it.

Full link to data (now offline): http://www.commondatahub.com/live/geography/state_province_region/iso_3166_2_state_codes
