I just installed ubuntu 18.04, I got git and zsh as default shell, but for some reason after cloning the repo and sourcing the file nothing happens on git repositories git 2.17. The prompt stays exactly the same.

Is there a super simple dependency I am missing? I have python 3 installed but since this is a fresh OS install I am guessing it my be a dependency that is not that explicit.

I just needed to install python wasn't familiar with python3 vs python 2 packages/commands differences
