Shareable link that will import highlights and notes #1619
Comments
Hey @breadchris thanks for this, its actually really close to a feature we have been playing with called We are still refining it a lot, so this input really helps. You are exactly right about the unauth'd view too. We don't want Omnivore to become a tool to work around publishers. I really like the idea of incorporating an initial page into the flow of Clubs, so we aren't just saying "Hey sign up for my reading club" we are saying "Chris sent you some notes, join his Club to see them" Here are some details on Clubs so far, right now they are part of the iOS beta: https://blog.omnivore.app/p/dca38ba4-8a74-42cc-90ca-d5ffa5d075cc |
awesome! i'll give clubs a spin |
The Clubs feature sounds very interesting, but I primarily use Omnivore on a Chromebook. Any news on the iOS beta? |
The Clubs feature seems to fit the situation where you want to share with a small group, but what about sharing with a specific individual that you may or may not share with again? |
I often will want to share the annotations I have made to an article with my peers so that they can quickly see what I saw valuable about an article.
Being able to let someone import notes and highlights would let you be able to "pass the paper" around so that they could send you back their notes that they have. A simple feature that would help start a networking effect of people using omnivore (ie. needing to signup to view someone's notes).
It would be nice for there to be an unauthed view to see this information, but I figure that could potentially be problematic legally to essentially be rehosting content from omnivore.app.
There is #409 for generating an rss feed for sharing, but being able to do this for a single link is pretty useful.
