Using Raccoon 4.18.0 i currently can't find the following app when searching for e.g. the app name, the vendor name or the package name:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sonelli.juicessh

As i'm not able to create a support ticket on https://billing.onyxbits.de/support/email (just getting a 401 Unauthorized after entering my PIN) i'm posting this here:

  1. Could some one confirm that i'm not the only one not able to find this app via Raccoon?
  2. Could this be a problem in Raccoon itself (e.g. the used / emulated device id)?
  3. Any other reason why an app isn't found?

As far as I know the default Raccoon device emulates an Android 7.0 device (API 24).
https://github.com/onyxbits/raccoon4/blob/master/src/main/java/com/akdeniz/googleplaycrawler/GooglePlayAPI.java#L144

But according to Play Store details the app requires Android 8 as minimum. Play Store filters out apps you can not install on your device so that you do not see this app.

Hi,
sorry for the late reply. The 404 is because you bought the "economy package" (no longer available), which comes without support. So technically correct, but terribly communicated.

@jpstotz is probably correct, in which case you need to use DummyDroid (https://raccoon.onyxbits.de/dummydroid) to create a matching device.

If anyone happens to own a current flagship Android smartphone and can give me the specs (DummyDroid format) for it, I can make a new release of Raccoon.

Thanks to both of you for the reply, that explains a lot.

I'm not owning such a flagship Android smartphone so i can't give the specs.

But there was another APK downloader mentioned in this issue in a comment (i got a notification about it but it seems to have been deleted in the meantime) which seems to be able to download the app, could that one be useful? (as it seems to emulate a newer Android device if it is able to download that app).

Please be careful when giving potentially unsafe advice. There's a reason why I asked for a DD specs file instead of just bumping values: the device profile is bound to your account. For rather obvious reasons, I insist on the default Raccoon device being one that actually exists in the real world.

@89z

I prefer not to give people a match and a stick of dynamite and just let them decide what to do with that. What you call arbitrary rules is meant to keep users from accidentally turning their account into a crater. I have skimmed the source of the project, you are so desperately trying to pitch. What I have seen so far does not convince me that you are qualified to give (sound) advice. So, I'd appreciate if you didn't, or at least not press the issue after being told that your advice is potentially dangerous.

People depend on their Google accounts. Which means your move fast and break things mentality of promoting quickhacks without understanding their full scope and implying that it was the user's choice to follow, when it blows up, is highly unwelcome.

I hope that discussion ends here.

For the record: I deleted @89z reply to my previous comment, since I do not like having my time wasted by being forced to repeat myself. S/He then chose to delete all his or her other comments in this thread.

Update to 4.20.0 (https://raccoon.onyxbits.de/apk-downloader/4-20-0/) worked for me and allows the download of this and various other updates of apps again. Thank you for the update (a7d78d4)!
