Hi OPA community members! We are looking to enlist your help in finding a new name for this project.

Background:
Given that this project has recently been donated to OPA, the project community through it might make for an apt time to rename this project. Other reasons for a rename include verbosity, and project purpose may be a little vague with the current name.

How:
Feel free to make suggestions on this issue based on the following criteria:

English word: No made-up terms or acronyms please. The name should be discoverable in an English dictionary.
Must convey project intent: Please submit constructive names that relate and convey the purpose of this project.

Suggestions from this issue will be tallied and presented before the community meeting before a final decision is made. Please note that final name selection may require legal and other logistical checks.

When
Please submit your ideas BEFORE Monday, Jan. 28th. Thank you!

Thanks!
Credit to @ncdc via vmware-tanzu/velero#1122 for inspiration on renaming process.

Gatekeeper?

There is already a project with the same name (https://github.com/replicatedhq/gatekeeper), but there's a lot of overlap between the functionality of these projects today. This comment is a proposal to eliminate the existing replicatedhq/gatekeeper project, and use that name on this project.

I think the roadmaps and goals of the two projects are similar enough that a single, unified project would be better for the community.

I was going to suggest Bosun, but the closer nautical analogy is probably Chief mate. So Chief?

After this morning's discussion, if we're bringing in the Gatekeeper functionality, and we're keep it loosely coupled to k8s so that the same policy management functionality can be used with other types of resources, like cloud native resources, then I'm with @marccampbell with reusing Gatekeeper as the name. It doesn't need to have a nautical theme.

Unless we end up splitting it into a few separate projects, like policy management, policy testing etc and keep this as the k8s integration part.

I'm happy to process the change. One final call on any additional checks that I should do.

@lachie83 Along with the gatekeeper name, I have gatekeeper.sh if that's interesting. Happy to transfer it over, if useful.

@marccampbell that sounds great to me! @lachie83 would that work?

I know it’s a little late but the Viking helmet just screams for a name like Heimdall, the Gatekeeper is a servant of All-Father and ally of Thor. He was the guardian of Asgard, standing on the rainbow bifrost bridge and denying access to any unauthorised beings.

It was decided on the project call for this project to be renamed to "gatekeeper".

@tsandall can you kindly confirm if I'm clear to update the repository name?
