Is Prometheus remote-write exporter fully support OTel histograms?

According to the OpenTelemetry exporter documentation (link: https://github.com/open-telemetry/opentelemetry-collector-contrib/blob/main/exporter/prometheusremotewriteexporter/README.md), there's a note indicating that the exporter might drop some metrics.
However, I'm using histograms in my code for metrics, and I can see the corresponding records in my Grafana dashboard. Therefore, I'm a bit confused about the meaning of this warning. Has the documentation been updated to reflect current behavior, or are there specific circumstances under which metrics might be dropped that don't apply to my histograms?
