We have begun better differentiating Independent Collectives from Fiscal Hosts, but there are quite a few profiles that are set up as the wrong one, i.e. they should be an IC but are set up as a Fiscal Host with no Collectives.
I think it's important because we've started splitting out documentation, onboarding, and features for each, and having users on the wrong path is confusing. The actual feature-set and design we have for both is really good at this point - we just need to help people create the correct type of profile for what they are trying to do, and potentially migrate ones that are set up incorrectly.
Fiscal Hosts
Designed for hosting multiple Collectives (or at least one Collective that is distinct from the Host's own budget and profile)
Can charge Host Fees
Full Host Dashboard
Host Reports
Receives Fiscal Host activation and onboarding emails
Directed to refer to Fiscal Hosts section of the docs
Independent Collectives
Designed as a single profile with one integrated budget
Cannot host multiple Collectives or charge host fees
Simplified version of the admin panel compared to hosts (only access to certain functions like receipt settings, financial contributions, sending money, receiving money - not the full host admin panel)
Receives Independent Collective activation and onboarding emails
Directed to refer to Independent Collectives section of the docs
I tried to do a metabase query to surface profiles activated as Fiscal Hosts but that have no hosted Collectives, as those are the ones that should probably be ICs, but I wasn't able to figure it out. I'll add that here once I've got it.
