Clickhouse storage can be configured to use AWS S3 instead of expensive local system volumes

Have you done any performance checks on this? I imagine is has to be a pretty significant perf hit.

It looks like ClickHouse Cloud and maybe Altinity have moved to this as a solution for cloud storage: https://clickhouse.com/docs/en/cloud/reference/shared-merge-tree I have a meeting with Altinity this week and I will bring it up to see whether this is a better option for our use cases.
