[PRE REVIEW]: 1build: Frictionless way of managing project-specific commands #84
Comments
Hello human, I'm @whedon, a robot that can help you with some common editorial tasks. Due to the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, JOSE is currently operating in a "reduced service mode". Remember that all our editors are volunteers. For a list of things I can do to help you, just type:

👋 @gopinath-langote — First of all, I apologize for the long delay in processing your submission. This is entirely due to me dropping JOSE altogether since the pandemic struck. It has just been too difficult to concentrate and keep productive, which means volunteer efforts fall to the bottom of the priority list. Now, I'm afraid that your submission is not in-scope for The Journal of Open Source Education. Please read about our scope and submission requirements. JOSE publishes two types of articles that describe: Therefore, your submission is administratively rejected as out-of-scope. |
@labarba , I respect your point of view. But the fact is, 1Build lies inside the scope of the journal. According to the definition of the "educational software tools" as defined on JOSE official website: What do you mean by "educational software tools"? The 1Build tool is a project management tool. 1build is an automation tool used for research and development projects that arms you with the convenience to configure project-local command line aliases – and then run the commands quickly and easily. It is particularly helpful when you deal with multiple projects and switch between them all the time. It is often the fact that different projects use different build tools and have different environment requirements – and then switching from one project to another is becoming increasingly cumbersome. That is where 1build comes into play. What do users of 1Build learn?
Which I believe completely lies in scope of JOSE. Therefore, I request you to give it a second opportunity and reconsider the submission. Thanks, |
JOSE does not publish this sort of tool. The scope of JOSE is education. |
@labarba Kindly let me know what according to you is against education in this project. Users of 1Build learn to manage their project by use of automation. By gradually using and learning to use 1Build, users are educated about importance of automation and how to save time. Is the fact that, how to do projects efficiently not a part of education? Appreciate your thoughts on this. |
Perhaps I wasn't clear: The Journal of Open Source Education publishes material or software specifically targeting its use within the context of teaching. |
