From oppifjel...@gmail.com on December 21, 2011 00:59:34 *** I DELETED POST #3 Yes, let's keep this issue too, I'd like the explanation better :D I plan to fix this as soon as I have time. I am aware this is annoying! Also I've a question about affinity and deficiency, you are a shugenja player so you should be familiar with them better than me. Let's say I join multiple shugenja schools, how affinity and deficiencies from those school stacks or conflicts? If I gain an Air affinity with one school and an Air deficiency with another how is that handled? I'm confused. |
From ste...@caner.cat on December 21, 2011 01:37:33 The way multiple schools is written in the corebook (before learning any Techniques from a given School, you must possess at least one rank in all School Skills taught there), made me put this rule in my games: You need to purchase not only School Skills, but attributes too, and you must have affinity with your new school affinity, your deficiency is the deficiency from your starting school, not from the new one (in the case they are different), and they don't stack (you can't gain a double bonus affinity/penalty deficiency). That's because I understand your affinity/deficiency is set in character creation, and can't be changed, and because I never read about a L5R NPC character who has two affinities. You could set that as main rule, and let users override it via an option. By the way, now we are talking about it, the way I understand 4th ed rules, only a shugenja from the Isawa shugenja school with the advantage Ishiken-do can learn Void Spells and have affinity with them. And, if I remember well, there is a disvantage that allows you to get a second deficiency, that should be controled too. There is a last thing to control, there are some schools (not in the core book, but in expansion books, like The Great Clans) that has affinity/deficiency with keyword spells (like Divination keyword spells, for example). |
From oppifjel...@gmail.com on December 21, 2011 02:17:23 wow :D isn't this tricky? So at the end I think I'm implementing this mess like this: - You join any secondary(/tertiary?) school, not mixing bushi and shugenja one
about the keywords affinity/deficiency :O never though about that. It is very tricky to handle considering how the program is working right not :/ |
