Hello everybody,
As I wrote also on the openwrt forums, I have 2 totolink x5000r routers ordered and arrived at the same time, same seller.
flashed them with openwrt and one of them detects the wifi card, one does not. The one that does not was flashed with stock firmware and wireless is working.

I do not know why, and I have not opened the routers to check if there is any visible difference between the boards.

Hauke mentions modified the device tree to allow writing to the factory partition in issue #462 but I do not know how to do that.

I managed to enablw writing on factory partition with:

# opkg install kmod-mtd-rw
# insmod mtd-rw i_want_a_brick=1
# mtd unlock /dev/mtd2
# dd if=/dev/mtd2ro bs=131072 skip=0 count=8 of=/tmp/factory-fixed
# md5sum /dev/mtd2ro /tmp/factory-fixed # Verify these have the same md5
# mtd write /tmp/factory-fixed /dev/mtd2
# reboot
# opkg remove kmod-mtd-rw

but the wireless card still does not get detected during boot.

There is no way around this so here it goes. I am not a programmer, I can't say I can easily do that.
I cloned openwrt/mt76 and reverted the changes from the commit you said. The problem is I do not know if now I should compile an updtade .ipk or if I should compile the intire firmware. Either way, I do not know how.

So now I am searching for tutorials.
If, by any chance, it is easy for you to compile a file, please let me know. I guess it is a matter of a few clicks, for those who know.
Or is it possible to edit a file directly on the router?

I have a dozen X5000R devices from Aliexpress, and experience no issues with Wifi chip detection under 21.02.3 — at least, no partition write or package re-build is required.
Although, there is an issue with the same MAC on 5GHz interfaces (see #630 and related), so for multiple devices in one environment some workaround is needed, like those mentioned in #476 — but it's a different story.

I suspect, the OP's issue is related to HW, or probably can be fixed with /etc/config/wireless adjustment, e.g.:
