Route alternatives #1294
Comments
I agree, this would be nice to have. |
What about it? It would be very nice option |
Me too. To have this feature of alternatives routes will be very nice! Brouter can do alternative routes. Osmand can be configured to use Brouter as routing engine. To have the alternative routes in OsmAnd you have to generate Brouter the 4 .gpx files and import them to Osmand. But maybe it will be possible to do this in the user friendly User-Interface of Osmand. Without ex- and import of .gpx files in Osmand from Brouter manually. |
As the tag says, this would be nice to have, what I do right now is put "road blocks" where I don't want to go, but sometimes the routing engine is stubborn and just gets a smaller road to go around Wouldn't this be offline routing though? |
sometimes fuel efficient route is better than default route . may be that can be used as an alternative. |
It would be useful to show alternative routes on the map when asking for directions and user could select between few variants. |
These are the kind of alternatives that I've been looking for. Sure you can find other routes with options in settings like fuel-efficiency etc. but that is time consuming. OsmAnd should show alternative routes along with the default suggested route, like all other navigation apps do (Google Maps, Apple Maps and so on). |
Really really wishing for alternative routes. I don't know how many times OSM has just decided to take me through tons of back roads with lights and stop signs instead of just throwing me on the damn highway. It's so frustrating. If we had the option for alternative routes, I can just pick which one, see the route in entirety, then drive safely and accurately. |
Right now OsmAnd only calculates one route to a given target. Assuming this is the perfect route, this is fine, but at times the user might have more knowledge about the conditions or might have a preference for one way or another.
I see Google Maps' alternative routing and incorporated traffic information to be the two features in which it is superior to OsmAnd.
A quick search for an appropriate algorithm was not really successful. I only found BRouter, who claim to have an implementation for this: http://brouter.de/brouter/alternatives.html
