@peterpalau check this issue. I think is related to what you were talking about.

The current message shown is:

(01:33:45) bob: You try sending an encrypted message to someone who wasn't expecting it.

Yes, that is what I was talking about in the last OTR meeting.

This happens when Bob close unexpectedly the Pidgin (Pidgin crashes or laptop reboot case) without ending the private conversation with Alice and when Bob get online again and try to start a private conversation with Alice, the Bob's status don't change, at least change in the moment but if you close the conversation window and open again, the status remains Not private.

All this while Alice conversation status remains Private.

UPDATE: And sometimes in this case #43 (comment) appear.
