@VicDeo the avatar "API" changed a bit since Berlin … Preferred way to call them now is via $.avatar(). See here.
It basically does everything for you.

This issue is actually about a problem in webodf code which I noted here and not with webodf's issue tracker because for now that will just be a downstream patch specially for ownCloud Documents :)
The 404 is only from that, nothing to do for the real Documents code.
