Problem reaching plex from workers #217
Comments
Hi 4mazon, Cheers, |
It seems to have worked! Now I'm dealing with not having permissions to write transcoding... but I guess that is more onto how I set it up
|
This is the full log of the task btw
Reading |
@4mazon that error is saying it can't write to your transcode directory. Is it shared between plex and the workers, set in plex, and has full write permissions? You might need to chmod it 777. https://github.com/pabloromeo/clusterplex#transcoding-location |
@sjdaws you seem to be right. I did testt the folder from outside the container and it worked just fine (was able to I will check it, will get back if it worked after fixing this, thanks! |
Seems like I'm having the same issue. I added this on
|
@4mazon permissions denied is the same issue, it can't write to the transcode directory. Try logging into one of the transcoders and touching a file in the Linuxserver images run as user |
@sjdaws that is what I mean, I did touch a file inside the folder and it allowed me to, but got the error anyways while transcoding |
@4mazon in that video you’re performing actions as You may however bump into permission errors with NFS since you’re setting the u:g to 1000:1000 in your NFS settings. |
I will check, but in theory the folder ownership is abc:abc
Yeah, seems like I cannot do 777 on |
Have you tried setting I’m just guessing, as I’ve said previously I’m not using NFS. However, this is definitely a permission issue with the share. |
I have added
But I still have the issue. I tried with It is strange 😔, being 777 should allow all users to write there... I also tried checking the permissions and ownership of the specific transcode folder, no luck |
If you do the same set up but don't use NFS (using |
I do have a different error:
I am doing some tests checking this |
So, I am still getting that error
But this is on local container folder, not even shared folder between host and container (it did happen the same on this scenario) So, the problem was indeed with the shared folder, which I will have to investigate further, but seems like I'm having some trouble here also |
You might need to try by forcing Plex and the transcoder onto the same host. I think this error is related to a directory missing (which might be transcode) |
I got the same old error when putting the worker on the same machine... I will look into the other one later today, but anyways wouldn't putting both containers on the same host break the whole concept of this? 😔 |
Absolutely, but it’s always good to get it working then work backwards from there. |
Any luck with this, @4mazon? |
Sadly I have not been able to make it work. I guess we can close this and if I ever come up with a solution I could get back with it (or we can use xkcd 979 reference) |
Ah, that's unfortunate :( |
To be honest, anything that works to make a network connected host transcode for the linux base host would work for me. I'm gonna check what you just told me and try to make it work Muchas gracias ! 🙏🏽 |
Yeah no luck with Is there a setup guide for external (not same host) workers? I don't mind restarting from scratch at this point honestly |

Describe the bug
It is giving me the following error from the worker container:
[tcp @ 0x7fcf32b59640] Failed to resolve hostname plex: Try again
To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:
Expected behavior
It does the transcoding
Additional context
I am using a machine (low power) with
plex
+clusterplex_dockermod
and alsoclusterplex_orchestrator
. I have commented out port 1900 (it causes conflict when starting the container)Another machine (high power) with
plex
+clusterplex_worker_dockermod
.The config is copied from the main server to the worker, at least for now, to make it easier to configure the
/transcode
path.Main machine has a shared folder which worker connects to using
cifs
fordata
andtranscode
folders.I can add whatever needed info here. What could be the issue? I see no reference to
plex
as it is in the configuration filesThe text was updated successfully, but these errors were encountered:
