<p>On the left margin, opposite lines three and four, there are some dark traces which Mirończuk (2014) suggests might be ink. Kotyl (2019) writes "The traces at the margin look quite deliberate and they may have something to do with editorial markings of some kind (a reference to scholia?)."</p>

<p>Mironczuk (2014) notes that Zenodotus, Aristophanes and Aristarchus athetized these lines "on the ground that 'they are not consistent with the character of Aias, and that he raises objections to himself absurdly'" (25) (H 196-199 are rejected by Wilamowitz and bracketed by West). All the lines apparently were in the manuscript</p>
