The interim solution shall be either disposable (to be re-implemented),
re-usable (to be integrated), or scalable (to become a part of the new solution).
Use cases
Interim solution ODK data collection: good enough for now, but disposable once better solution arrives
Interim solution Strandings: re-usable, as using the same technology and software frameworks as Biosys and other departmental systems. High likelihood that final solution will have same architecture and can transfer "the good bits" of WAStD.
Data analysis of WAStD and related R packages is scalable - can be adapted to slightly different API outputs, but the main plumbing is the same.
Implementation
WAStD has established itself as the point of truth for turtle data. BioSys is not capable enough to replace it.
The ODK ecosystem has proven to be the most capable, cost-effective, and best supported / maintained solution for electronic data capture that DBCA has to offer.
All solutions however are modular and communicate through APIs. Each solution, and each data pipeline is completely replaceable.
