Requirement

The interim solution shall be either disposable (to be re-implemented),
re-usable (to be integrated), or scalable (to become a part of the new solution).

Use cases

  • Interim solution ODK data collection: good enough for now, but disposable once better solution arrives
  • Interim solution Strandings: re-usable, as using the same technology and software frameworks as Biosys and other departmental systems. High likelihood that final solution will have same architecture and can transfer "the good bits" of WAStD.
  • Data analysis of WAStD and related R packages is scalable - can be adapted to slightly different API outputs, but the main plumbing is the same.

Implementation

  • WAStD has established itself as the point of truth for turtle data. BioSys is not capable enough to replace it.
  • The ODK ecosystem has proven to be the most capable, cost-effective, and best supported / maintained solution for electronic data capture that DBCA has to offer.
  • All solutions however are modular and communicate through APIs. Each solution, and each data pipeline is completely replaceable.
