A few screenshots of a map overlay + filters from toyota.com (the map slides out from the right in this example). This isn't necessarily ideal, but will keep an eye out for other precedents.

Design Decisions with @jesicarson

Hide the Methods and Collections
Add a map view choice in the top right corner along with other view choices
white frame around the map
allow the user to go full-screen with a full-screen icon button on the top right of the map
the pins should show according to the search/filter. We should already have this code somewhere. Our current map used to work like that.
the user's interaction on the map should be the same as our existing map at the bottom of the home page
