Improvement to better control "OffsetDistance" from Wall Edge #5
Comments
It may be achievable somehow with the Gui tool 899db1d ( which graphically select / change which 'Wall Segment' / edge (MasterSketchSubelement) to attach to) to check the point of the cursor position when the user click. But it seems not very useful, yet, as usually user would like a digital figure / snap to interval, e.g. 1350 mm from the end of Wall corner, and probably should like the Draft Snap tool, to display a Dimension line display the OffsetDistance. |
You are totally right in regard of the grafical input method. |
Leaving a remark here for reference :

I have another look at this issue, and realise it was in fact implemented. The Arch Equipment, Windows etc. can attach to the (inner/outer) wall face, not only the 'Axis' of the Wall (the Edges in the ArchSketch). User can select 'Wall Left' or 'Wall Right' in the Offset Alignment as desired. https://forum.freecadweb.org/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=50802&start=100#p467577 Please see if this issue should be closed ? Thanks :) |
Until now there is only the possibility to enter an offset distance on the master sketch.
IMHO it would be very usefull to extend this in the future so that offset distances could alternatively relate to external wall faces.
