App=acidrip;Multimedia;http://images.pbidir.com/progicons/acidrip.png;ports@FreeBSD.org;UNKNOWN;GPL;Graphical;cd,dvd,ripper,encoder;AcidRip is a Gtk2::Perl application for ripping and encoding DVD's. It neatly wraps MPlayer and MEncoder, seeing as MPlayer is by far the best bit of video playing kit around for Linux (and FreeBSD). As well as creating a simple Graphical Interface for those scared of getting down and dirty with MEncoders command line interface, It also automates the process in a number of ways: o Parses DVD into contents tree o Finds longest title o Calculate video bitrate for given filesize o Finds black bands and crops them o Gives suggestions for improved performance;;1384282796;;GTK2::Perl wrapper for MPlayer and MEncoder for ripping DVDs;
App=afternoonstalker;Games;http://images.pbidir.com/progicons/afternoonstalker.png;martymac@FreeBSD.org;http://sarrazip.com/dev/afternoonstalker.html;GPL;Graphical;2D,robots,game;Afternoonstalker is a clone of the Intellivision game Night Stalker. You are in a two-dimensional maze in which you are attacked by robots that shoot at you and that you must shoot down. You must pick up a gun somewhere in the maze in order to have a few bullets to shoot. Avoid the spiders and the bats, which can paralyze you long enough for a robot to come and shoot you. The bunker in the center is your only protection. WWW: http://sarrazip.com/dev/afternoonstalker.html;;1384283661;martymac@FreeBSD.org;A clone of the 1981 Night Stalker video game;

App=cdparanoia;Audio;http://images.pbidir.com/progicons/cdparanoia.png;danfe@FreeBSD.org;http://www.xiph.org/paranoia/;GPL;Text;audio,ripper;Cdparanoia is a Compact Disc Digital Audio (CDDA) Digital Audio Extraction (DAE) tool, commonly known on the net as a 'ripper'. The application is built on top of the Paranoia library, which is doing the real work (the Paranoia source is included in the cdparanoia source distribution). Cdparanoia reads audio from the CDROM directly as data, with no analog step between, and writes the data to a file or pipe in WAV, AIFC, or raw 16 bit linear PCM. Cdparanoia is a bit different than most other CDDA extraction tools. It contains few-to-no 'extra' features, concentrating only on the ripping process and knowing as much as possible about the hardware performing it. Cdparanoia will read correct, rock-solid audio data from inexpensive drives prone to misalignment, frame jitter, and loss of streaming during atomic reads. Cdparanoia will also read and repair data from CDs that have been damaged in some way. Cdparanoia is easy to use and administrate. It has no compile time configuration, happily autodetecting the CDROM, its type, its interface and other aspects of the ripping process at runtime. A single binary can serve the diverse hardware of the do-it-yourself computer laboratory from Hell.
