Dependencies problem with bower

I'm using bower to manage my dependencies, and when I installed peek, added the CSS and JS necessarily, I see this error

Asset depends on 'peek/bar/production.gif' to generate properly but has not declared the dependency
Please add: `//= depend_on_asset "peek/bar/production.gif"` to '/home/luizkowalski/.rbenv/versions/2.1.0/lib/ruby/gems/2.1.0/gems/peek-0.1.8/app/assets/stylesheets/peek.scss'

should I give up on bower? is there a workaround?

EDIT: I'm using Rails 4.1.0 on Linux and Ruby 2.1.0p0

I also see this issue on Rails 4.1, but without Bower; I suspect Bower isn't causing the issue.
