Downloading a tarball of potion and running configure and make each produce several occurrences of this error message:

fatal: Not a git repository (or any of the parent directories): .git

And ultimately, make install fails with:

git checkout-index --prefix=potion-0.1.0/ -a
fatal: Not a git repository (or any of the parent directories): .git
make[1]: *** [GTAGS] Error 128

currently until v1.0 we only support git checkouts, no tarballs. sorry.
