Currently users have to manually go to https://github.com/< owner >/< repository >/import/authors in order to map commits to GitHub authors. There is an API for this, but it doesn't seem to ever associate an author with a GitHub account.

I'm not sure if I'm just not using it correctly, or if the API can't do what I want.
